 About me:
This is my nineteenth year teaching at Fullerton College.   Hired as a full-time professor beginning the 1997-98 academic year, I have been teaching English in the California Community College system for 25 years.

On campus, I have other roles in addition to that of "teacher."  For
the English Department, I serve on the online committee, literature committee, and the committee for student learning outcomes for English 102, 103, 104, & 201, and I have been one of the faculty advisors for our department's literary/arts journal, LiveWire. I encourage you to visit the site and consider submitting your creative work.

Additionally, I am the the previous editor of inside english, the professional journal of the English Council of California Two-Year Colleges (ECCTYC).

You are welcome to read my "curriculum vitae". It is like a resume, but instead of it being only 1-2 pages long, a vita is a history of
one's professional work. So mine lists, among other things, courses I have taught, publications, any projects I have been involved with, conferences and workshops I have attended or given, organizations I belong to, my volunteer work, and this document grows throughout one's professional life. Hence the Latin phrase: curriculum vitae, meaning "course of life."

For the last twenty-four years, I have been married to my wife, Christine. When I have free time, I start a remodeling project around the home.

What are my interests? Aside from reading, writing, traveling, and indulging in good coffee, very hoppy

IPA beers, earthy pinot noirs, and the numerous cuisines available to Southern Californians, I like to work on home projects.

   A few
summers ago I tackled the family room, resurfacing the ceiling and removing the carpet and vinyl tile underneath so that I could lay ceramic tiles instead.  So far I have four other floors on my resume--a hardwood floor, 2 ceramic floors, and a saltillo floor, all in my former home.  A few summers ago, I finished tiling a couple bathroom floors and installed over 700 square feet of hardwood planks in the upstairs area.  I completed the other 700 square feet of hardwood floors downstairs.  And in December of 2007, I retiled the kitchen floor in travertine with marble and wood inlays. In 2013, I installed an additional 650 square feet of hard wood plank flooring and bathroom floor and shower tiles--a tiring but personally satisfying project.
