1-1 Lecture
WELCOME, INTRODUCTIONS, WEEK 1 TASKS

Page updated: 27-Jan-2011 12:40 AM

Welcome back to campus, and if this is your first semester, then welcome to Fullerton College.  This course in College Writing promises to be an engaging class where you have a great deal of freedom to pick the topics you want to write about.

During the first class meeting I will be going over the syllabus, answering any of your questions about the course, demonstrating the course website (www.wiredprof.com) and Blackboard, the course software.

Most of the readings and activities for this first week involve the 2 course websites: www.wiredprof.com and Blackboard.  By the end of this first week, you should have completed the following tasks:

  1. Read through the Course Syllabus (Write down any questions you have for the second class meeting.)
  2. Browse around the WiredProf.com site to get familiar with it.
  3. Read the FAQs link. (see notes for AOL users)
  4. Do browser tune-up for Java (see instructions on the FAQs page).
  5. Set up a private e-mail account if you don't have one already (see #7 under Technology Concerns.
  1. Set up your e-mail profile so that your personal name appears.  E-mail me to test it.
  2. From the Resources page, download and customize the essay document template (get the right file for your word processor).  I will be demonstrating this in class during week 2
  3. E-mail me the customized essay template by the end of Week 2. (If you are unsure how to do this after reading the instructions, I will be demonstrating this in class.)
  4. Read through all the links on the Blackboard Central page.
  5. Logon to Blackboard and get familiar with the environment. (If you want to get ahead, complete the Blackboard activities assignment for next week.)
