Posting your essay:

  1. Go to the WebCT window and click on the reply button in this window so that a new discussion window pops up.
  2. Open up your essay file with whatever software you use.
  3. Click on EDIT--SELECT ALL. (keyboard shortcut is CTRL + A)
  4. Next click on EDIT--COPY. (keyboard shortcut is CTRL + C)
  5. Go back to the WebCT window and click in the window area where you type your message.
  6. Click on EDIT--PASTE. (keyboard shortcut is CTRL + V)
  7. Scroll down to be sure that a blank line has been inserted between paragraph breaks otherwise none of us will be able to tell where your sentences start and hence where your topic sentences begin. In short, it is your responsibility to be sure your essay is complete and readable.
  8. Click the post button.

Replying to your classmate:

  • All critiques must be posted no later than midnight, Frid. 05 April.
  • Remember to observe the due dates for posting your essay and for posting your critique. The assignment schedule explains the points and penalties for being late.
  • Reply to just one classmate. You must reply to someone's essay that has not been yet critiqued. You cannot just reply to anyone's you choose.
  • When you reply to critique someone's essay, click on the essay here. (Use the quote function if you want to comment on something specific in the essay; otherwise, just use the reply button.)
  • Copy and paste the discussion questions into this reply window you just created. (You'll find the critique questions on the wiredprof.com site under the link for the causal-analysis essay assignment.)
  • Do not wait until the last moment to attempt to post your work because you might run into problems. Budget your time because some of you will be learning new techniques on the computer.
